Kimaru Maitho, formerly of Kansas City, USA

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our brother and friend, Mr. Kimaru Maitho formerly of Kansas City and Wichita, KS

He leaves behind his two sons, Maitho Kimaru and Kamau Kimaru both of Overland Park Kansas, daughter Wanjira Kimaru of Wichita Kansas and his dear mother, Ms Wanjira Karobia of Nairobi Kenya.

He is brother to Mark Kimaru of Toronto Canada, Kariuki Kimaru, Inga Wanjiku, Dr. Daniella Munene and Alexander Kimaru of Nairobi Kenya. He’s preceded in death by his father Macho Kimaru.

Maitho was a long term resident of Kansas City and Wichita Kansas and was among the first Kenyan immigrants to call Kansas home.

He’s remembered for his generous spirit especially his welcoming attitude towards the new arrivals from his home country. As we celebrate his life and times we encourage those whose lives he touched to share those moments with us on this thread.

There will be a visitation with family on Wednesday May 16 at the Church of Resurrection 13720 Roe Avenue Overland Park ks starting at 4pm and a memorial service and fundraiser on Sunday May 19 at the same venue.

The funeral and burial services will be held on May 26th. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers at this time of loss.
