Loving wife of the late Dave Achieng of Seme Kakelo. Daughter of the late James Ochung’ and mama Perez Ochung’ of Asembo Kabondo. Daughter-in-law of Charles Achieng, the late Margaret Achieng and mama Nerea Achieng. Mother of Dinnah (USA), Peres (KLB), Bill (School of Law), Fiona (PWAT) and Musa (KEMRI/CDC). Sister of Margaret (Ngege pri sch), the late Patrick, the late Adomi, the late Otieno and Evelyn (United millers Ksm). Sister-in-law Mildred (Mildstar), Steven, Musa, Atieno and the late Akoth. Mother-in-law of Philip (USA) and Collins (Youth Alive). Grandmother of Shain.

Friends colleagues and relatives are meeting daily at Police Mess Kisumu opposite State House from 5:00 pm. The final harambee will be held on 3rd October 2017.The cortege will leave Aga Khan Hospital Mortuary on 6th October 2017 for prayers at St Luke’s ACK Manyatta. Burial service will be on 7th October 2017 in Seme Kakelo Holo.

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of Peter Gitau Mwaura which occurred on Sunday 24/09/2017, through a road accident at Rwanda Kigali. He was a businessman at Kawangware (Hardwork Cereals) and a transporter.

Son of the late Joseph Mwaura and Dorcas Njeri of Gatundu Town. Beloved Husband of Lucy Wanjiku Gitau. Loving father of Irene Lucy Njeri Gitau (U.S.I.U) and Kenneth Mwaura Gitau of (Nyahururu Highway School). Brother of Andrew J.N. Mwaura(Rose Mabati), Rurunga Mwangi, Francis Githuka, Susan Nduta and the late Stanley Ndungu, Samuel Kambo and Eunice Mugure. of the late Njuguna Gacathi and _lane Ng’endo Niuguna.

Friends and relatives are meeting at his home in Rironi Chungamali, Nyakima Gatanga House and Kawangware Ndwaru House for burial arrangement. Funeral will held on Wednesday 4th October 2017.Also there will be a fund raising on Sunday at PLEA Kihumo Ground, opposite his home from 3.00p.m you are welcome.

The cortege leaves at ICU Funeral Home on 4th October 2017 at 8:00am for funeral service at his home Gatundu South, Ng‘enda Location, Kahuguaini Sub-location, Kiharu Village.

The Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing & Urban Development has learnt with great sadness of the passing on of Architect Mariamu el Maawy, Principal Secretary, State Department of Public Works.

Beloved daughter of the late Mzee All Abdallah el-Maawy and Sharifa el-Maawy of Lamu County. She is survived by her daughter Layla Ibrahim of Aga Khan Academy. She was loving sister to Abdallah All Abdallah el-Maawy(Canada) and Mohamed Ali el-Maawy.

Arch. El-Maawy was first appointed as Principal Secretary – Land in June, 2013, commencing her service in the then Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development. During her tenure as PS Land, she was engaged in major programs of government, which included the Titling Program that resulted in the award of thousands of title deeds including the resolution of longstanding Likoni and Kihiumwiri land crises in Mombasa and Muranga counties respectively. She was posted to head the State Department of Public Works in the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development in April 2017. Prior to her appointment,Arch. El-Maawy had served as an HonoraryTreasurer of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) from 2007 to 2009. She also served as a Member of Mombasa Polytechnic University Council, Chairperson of the Faza Fire Disaster Fund, member of the Public Procurement Advisory Board, the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission and the Privatization Commission of Kenya.

Arch El-Maawy met her death on 27th September 2017 while undergoing treatment following injuries she sustained during a terrorist attack in Lamu in July this year while on official duty.

There will be viewing of her body at her Crystal Palace residence on Gitanga Close near Rusinga School in Nairobi at 9am to 11am today Friday 29th September 2017.Thereafter the body will be taken to Masjid Nur Mosque in Nairobi South C for Jumuah Salaat and Janaza prayers at 11.30 am. Burial will follow shortly thereafter at the Langata Muslim Cemetery at 2.00pm. We send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and the people of Kenya following this most tragic and unfortunate passing on of a committed and hardworking public servant.

May God rest her soul in eternal peace and grant her family strength during this difficult period of grief.
